For and Against Essay

Hi!

This is my For and Against essay corrected.

For and Against Essay

What are the arguments for and against making it compulsory to wear seat belts in all forms of motorized transport (including buses and taxis)?

This topic is very interesting because (at least here in the city) the transport is so deficient, and people are always saying that it is very dangerous because of the drivers (which is true), but they also complain about the seat belts. This is because in most of the transport services there are no seat belts (mainly due to the bad conditions of the units). But the use of these seat belts in all the transport could end in its complete rejection by the people.

Even when people complain about this, there are some vehicles that have seat belts, and people don’t use them. But let’s see the arguments in favor and against.

Arguments in favor:

First, I think that people will feel more comfortable and secure using the transport, and this will result in a wider use of these services than private cars, which will reduce traffic and pollution.

Another point in favor, which is a complement of the last point is that the government will be forced to introduce more units for transport, and more efficient units (such as electric vehicles or those that use natural gas).

But, on the other hand there are some points that will make that the services turn into a more complicated system that will end in less acceptance of such transport.

Arguments against:

First of all, I can’t imagine seat belts on the subway, people will never use them and of course they will destroy them. Most of the people travel just a few stations and sometimes they don’t even want to sit.

Secondly, the use of seat belts in motorcycles could be more dangerous than not using them, because the seat belt could turn into a lethal accessory in case of accident.

Conclusion:

In my opinion, the use of seat belts is something that will help to reduce lethal accidents, and it’s very important, but using them in all the motorized transport is not a good idea. I think that first the drivers have to change the way they drive, because that’s the main problem; second, people have to use the seat belts, most of the people don’t use them even in their own cars. So we have to change something that is called the driving culture.

Improving the language

This entry is about the activities that we did during this semester; I’ll talk about too other ways of learning and there is attached a link for a document with my SpeakUp Project.

First I have to say that this semester was really interesting, most of it because of the Baltimore project. I never have done something similar to that and I have to say that was challenging, but at the same time fun and really helped us to improve our English. This is because the fact of that we have to talk with a native speaker help us to improve our reading, our writing, but most important I think, our listening. Also it helped us to improve our oral expression. I think that was better than using only the book, because the readings and recordings are so pre-established and sometimes forced, so it’s better to practice our English in a more “natural” way.

This activity took advantage of the new technologies; this involved us to the project.
The SpeakUp project was interesting too (not as much as the Baltimore), because of the topics that are on the magazine. They are actual topics ad in some way are topics that we see every day, compared with the ones on the book (some are good, but the sometimes are repetitive). And the recordings are great. The fact that they have different accents is so good, that really helps to improve our listening.
Well, this is all for this entry, the other ways that I found useful to improve the language are in the document attached to this entry.

A genius left us

Hi everyone. This time I will post a bad new, and is that the great Steve Jobs died the las Wednesday. I like to say that I felt really bad about this because, although I knew him recently I really admired him because he was one of the very few people in this planet with the ability to change the world, because he was a wonderful person and because of his thinking.
I think his legacy will stay here for many many years, so, the only thing I could say is: Thank you Steve! We'll see!!!

Hi! I'm George

Hi everyone! I'm George and welcome to my blog for the English class at CELE. I'm at sixth level; my major is Computer Engineering and I'm in seventh semester at UNAM. I'm 21 years old and... Well I have to say ¡today is my birthday!
I like to play videogames; actually I have a PlayStation 3, a Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and a PSP; my favorite game is Gran Turismo 5 for PS3. I like the fighting games like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Guilty Gear, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (so if you have it we could play online). I like cars too... I really love cars and my favourite one is the Ferrari F430 and one of my goals in my life is to get one (I hope I can get one hahaha).
I also like science, specially all rlated to the human body and to the universe (my first option for major was Astronomy, but then I decided to study Engineering).
There is something that is important for me and is to enjoy all that I have, and try to enjoy all the days and share with my beloved ones. That gives you more happiness than material possessions. Just remember "those little details are what really make you smile".

I hope you are still here. Thank you! Hope you keep reading me! See you later.
